Modular nursery build-out for the Oakengates Theatre regeneration project

Part of the wider Oakengates Theatre regeneration project and commissioned by Telford and Wrekin Council, the nursery is designed to help meet the educational needs of young children in the community. Built with funding through the Government’s Levelling Up Fund, the nursery has a capacity for 108 students and is playing a huge role in improving early years education facilities for the area.

The building commissioned was a huge 14-bay structure with a custom-built canopy, with the building totally clad in Thermowood and fully refurbished internally and externally, built to the architect’s drawings and specifications. The nursery includes large classroom spaces with attached sleep rooms, kitchens, toilets and changing areas, a fully fitted commercial catering kitchen, laundry and staff rooms along with offices and DDA toilets for the use of staff and visitors.

The client managed all the groundwork for the project, but the MPB team installed the building using a 300-tonne crane, in two days, completing all the finishings and fittings to the highest specification, ready for handover to the client. The project took about four months to complete in total.
