At Midlands Portable Buildings, we offer a varied selection of portable office buildings. These can be bespoke to your needs, fully furnished with all the facilities and equipment you could need to operate your office on a temporary, mobile basis, or as a flexible long-term solution.

What is a Portable Office Cabin?

A portable office cabin is a modular building used for work purposes, recreating the experience of working within an office. Cabins can be a cost-effective way of creating an office space for your business.

We stock a range of high-quality office cabins, including used options, that are for sale either as they are or with custom design and fitting options. If you can’t find what you’re looking for on our site, get in touch with your requirements, and we’ll create the perfect solution for you.

Why Choose MPB?

Since 2005, MPB has been creating and installing quality portable office cabins, designed to a huge variety of bespoke requirements for different industries. We’re committed to providing our clients with only the best, and our portable cabins are constructed using superior methods and materials.

The timber we use is all construction-grade C24 for maximum strength and our panels are made from non-combustible plastisol and steel rather than the flammable, moisture-prone plywood used by our competition.

All of our portable cabins feature Firestone Building Products’ roof blankets, insulation throughout, Lot20a-compliant heaters, Low Smoke and Fumes (LSF) cabling and high-security 10-point multi-locking steel doors.

Our 5-Step Process

Step 01 – Design phase

To begin, we’ll consult with you on your exact requirements as well as preferences in terms of usage and design. Armed with this information, we’ll create a bespoke quote. If you’re happy with your quote, we’ll move forward with a site visit to assess any access restrictions.

Step 02 – Planning and compliance

Before we begin creating your cabin, you’ll need to apply for planning permission. This phase will take roughly eight to twelve weeks, but we can help simplify this process for you as part of our turnkey solution.

Step 03 – Groundworks and manufacturing

With your planning permission granted, we’ll start to construct and equip your new office. At the same time, other members of our team will visit your site to lay the groundworks, including preparing foundations, mains connections, ducting and drainage.

Step 04 – Installation

Your new office will be delivered to your site and installed by our expert team, ready for you to use as soon as possible.

Step 05 – Snagging and Handover

Any potential snagging tasks will be identified and handled before we hand over your new portable office along with the keys and all building certifications.

Advantages of Using Portable Office Buildings

Cost-Effective Solution for New Office Space

Portable office buildings are a universally more cost-effective solution for expanding your office space than traditional buildings. They require fewer man-hours to build, use less materials and can be installed more quickly and easily, while providing secure, insulated and flexible office space.

Fast Construction and Reduced Disruption

Traditional buildings are built out in the open, on-site. This means not only do you have to work around the construction for an unspecified period of time, but also if the weathers against you, as it often is in the UK, you’ll be subjected to delay after delay. Our office cabins are constructed offsite to much more compressed timescales at our facility, meaning you’re not impacted by costly delays.

Customised to Meet Your Specific Needs

Our portable cabins can be entirely customised from the ground up to meet your exact needs. Not only can they be any size you require, but they can also be fitted with varying levels of equipment depending on your specific use. Additionally, as they’re portable by nature, they can be moved and repositioned as needed for greater flexibility.

Sustainability and Safety

MPB’s portable offices are constructed using materials that have exceptionally long lifespans, meaning that your new cabin can be a long-term solution, reducing the requirement for new materials to be consumed.

We also have used cabins for sale, which make for an even more environmentally friendly solution. Safety is improved through the use of high-quality, fire-retardant materials, rigorous construction and testing methods and assembly in a controlled environment.

Optional Extras

In addition to providing outstanding build quality as standard, we also offer a range of optional extras, allowing you to make your new workspace truly your own.

Whether you want to tighten security, improve comfort or add extra functionality, we have a whole host of design and functionality choices that you can use to tailor your cabin to your specific requirements and preferences.

We also offer turnkey transportation in the event that your portable cabin needs to be relocated.

Available Options

Choose from a huge range of high-quality upgrades, including:

  • Window guards

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission for a modular office building?

You will need for planning permission for your portable office if you intend it to be in the same position for more than 28 days. However, we can help you with this step as part of our turnkey offering, just talk to our friendly team to discuss your needs.

How will a used portable cabin be delivered?

If you opt for one of our used or new portable office cabins, our team will handle all aspects of the delivery process. While your cabin is being constructed, our engineers will handle groundworks as well as site assessments in order to plan your delivery process. Once ready, your cabin will be installed on your site, ready to use.

What are the main uses for portable office cabins?

Portable office cabins are highly versatile, making them suitable for a wide range of short‑, medium‑, and long‑term applications across multiple sectors. They provide secure, comfortable workspace environments that can be installed quickly and moved as needs change.

They are used as offices, meeting rooms, classrooms, training rooms, temporary or permanent office space, control rooms, security offices, healthcare administration, events management and more!

How do portable office cabins differ from standard site cabins?

Portable office cabins are usually made from 2mm plastisol steel with UPVC windows and steel doors. Site cabins, sometimes referred to as anti-vandal cabins, are made from 5mm steel and have shutters or cages over windows to add extra security.

What sizes and layouts are available?

We provide offices as small as 12’ x 10’ up to 40’ x 12’. Newly manufactured buildings can be designed to your desired layout. Refurbished buildings can have a lot of flexibility with their internal layouts by moving or adding partitions and welfare facilities.

Do portable offices include desks, chairs and storage?

We can include office furniture for an additional cost.

Can portable office cabins be hired as well as purchased?

Yes! We offer both purchase and hire contracts. Hire contracts can be from 6 months onwards.
